FAQ's
Q Do you have a ramp rental service?
A Yes! Rental ramps are usually funded through ACC, Invacare and hospitals and installed to the same specs and safety standards as our longer term installations. We can also provide private rentals for those ineligible for assistance, or for temporary stage access, or special events venues requiring wheelchair access.
Q How long does it take to install a ramp?
A Once funding approval is received we undertake to install aluminium ramps within two weeks.
Q How do I know if I am eligible for government funding?
A Check with your doctor first to see if you meet the criteria for assistance with any disability equipment. If you have recently been in hospital you may already have seen an occupational therapist who will advise you. If you have had an accident check with your ACC Case Manager.
A No. Because aluminium is a good conductor, heat dissipates rapidly.
Q Is the ramp surface slippery in the wet?
A When installed as recommended RAMPWORX products well exceed AS/NZS 3661.1:1993 (AS/NZS 4586) Slip Resistance Test of Pedestrian Surfaces (wet test).
Q Can a ramp be made to suit my situation?
A Our modular ramps are suitable for most sites and are used by people of all ages, from children through to the elderly, whether using a walking frame, a manual or power wheelchair, assisted or unassisted.
Q What safety requirements do your ramps meet?
A We comply with Ministry of Health guidelines: i.e. our ramps are 1m wide with 75mm sides and 900mm handrails.
Q Is RAMPWORX New Zealand made?
A Our products are designed and manufactured in New Zealand so we can offer personal service and meet individual requirements.
A Sweep it regularly to remove leaves and other debris. This will prevent a build up of organic material that could rot and therefore impair the non-slip surface. If your ramp gets muddy, hose it down or scrub with an ordinary household broom. Please don’t use abrasive detergents or metal scrubbers!
Q How long will an aluminium ramp last?
A A minimum of 10 to 20 years depending on use and care. Aluminium is suited to our climate and does not rot like timber. We also use stainless steel fittings to ensure longer life.
Q How much weight can a ramp carry?
A We recommend 300kg for normal pedestrian or wheelchair usage.
