About Us

Alloy Metalworx Ltd was incorporated in July 2000, with the purpose of designing and manufacturing a local product to compete with imported metal ramps, and as an alternative to permanent timber or concrete ramps.

Since commencing full-time operation in 2001, the company has installed ramps from Kaitaia to Invercargill. We offer a nationwide service, with trained installers in most areas.

John and Dianne Bloemendal

RAMPWORX originated through our increasing awareness of access options (or lack of) for disabled people in the community. We spent two years working and living with severely disabled brain-injured adults in their own home and this gave us a wider understanding of the issues facing them in everyday life. When we were given the opportunity to design and produce a modular ramp system, John spent over a year working on protoypes and testing before our first ramps were installed.

John has over 30 years' experience in various aspects of sheetmetal engineering and management positions within this industry, including several years at Mercer Stainless and Alloy Yachts. In his spare time he's rebuilding his race car and practising his golf swing.

Dianne's background is in banking. She also worked in office administration and payroll for a large homecare provider before joining John fulltime in the business. Her favourite pastimes are reading, crafts and writing.

Our Team

Tony, Colin and Ulrich work in the engineering side of the business. Tony runs our CNC machines and supervises the workshop. Ulrich is also the guy you'll see on site, measuring and installing ramps. Sean and Julian fabricate ramps and prepare jobs for installation. Tamzyn runs the office. It's usually her you'll talk to when you ring us. Hannah works part time in the office while completing her Uni studies.
